Reidsville - With heavy hearts but fond memories, we celebrate the life of Jettie Lee Williamson Galloway, who departed this life on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the age of 84. She was a wonderful wife and a loving matriarch, the best mother, who was always there when we needed her most, offering abundant support, wisdom, and love. As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, she attended Booker T. Washington High School. She retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company after almost 30 years of service.
Spiritually, she was a faithful member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where she served on the Usher Board. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews dearly. She was outgoing and loved to fellowship with her friends at the Reidsville Senior Citizens Center.
Those who were touched by her spirit in a special way include the following: her parents, Bessie Helen King Williamson and Adolphus Williamson; sons, Alvin D. Galloway and Broderick V. Galloway siblings, James Williamson (Annie), Frances Brown (Andrew), Betty Lou Williamson who preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph William Galloway, Jr.; children: Diane Lane (Romie), William Larry Galloway, III (Melissa), Marvin Lee Galloway (Angela), Kyle Quincy Galloway (Lisa), Sonya Sydette Watlington and Christopher Lamont Galloway both of Greensboro, NC; Arlisa Galloway (William) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren: Kristal, Chandice, Courtney, William Chantez, Danielle, Melita, Ashley, Anellia, Quincy, Keyonna, Shacree, Isaiah, Ivory, and Syerra; great-grandchildren, Kaelise, Keion, Javen, Joshua, Madison, Vaughn, James, Da'Mari, Jordan, Austin, Rylei, A'nya, Wynter, Skyla, Josiah, Zoriah and Layla, Blakelynn (preceded in death); her sisters, Elaine Cole of Brooklyn; Odell Stephens of Ruffin, NC; and Hallie McCain; She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Celebration of life services honoring a loving matriarch will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 9818 US Highway 158 West, Reidvsille, NC 27320. The service of committal and act of entombment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens, 7875 US-158, Reidsville, NC 27320. The family visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Public visitation with receipt of flowers and condolences will be Friday, September 13, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Reidsville.
