Mr. Harold Loyd “H.L.” Gunter 89, passed away Monday (September 9, 2024) at the Baptist Village Retirement Communities following an extended illness.
He was born in Pierce County to the late Loyd Lawton Gunter and Susie Altman Gunter. He was a farmer for many years but had also been a bus driver for the Brantley County Board of Education as well.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Hickox Gunter; and three sisters, Teresa Taylor (Calvin), Vernell Lee (Eugene), and Agnes Hickox (Gene).
He is survived by his two daughters, Brenda Stokes (Barry) of Hortense and Carol McDonald (Mike) of Brunswick; five grandchildren, Brook Williams (Lance), Sarah Waguespack (Tyler), Courtney Wainright (Corey), Lindsey Quinones (Brian), and Matthew McDonald (Haley); 10 great grandchildren, Lance Williams, Jr., Anna Williams Mock (Brayden), Lane Wainright, Chloey Wainright, Gracyn Quinones, Jayce Quinones, Jax Quinones, Gia Kate Quinones, Molly Grace McDonald, and Charlotte McDonald; and 1 great great grandson, Jayden Mock; a sister, Yevonne Petty of Marietta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday (September 14, 2024) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Mars Hill Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at the funeral home on Saturday at 2 o’clock.
