Marilyn Jean Shaffer Bossard, age 89 of Estill Springs, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Bailey Manor in Winchester. She was born in Black Ash, Pennsylvania on September 12, 1934, to the late Ivan and Lois (Kightlinger) Shaffer. After high school, Marilyn worked as a secretary at a steel company. After raising her children, she went back to school to become a nurse. She was employed as a nurse at Harton Regional Medical Center until her retirement. Marilyn was a gifted piano player, and especially enjoyed playing church hymns. When able, Marilyn and her husband Jack loved to travel, having toured seven countries in Europe for twenty-one days. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Estill Springs, where she sang in the choir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael James Bossard; and daughter, Sharon Kay Bossard. Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Jack Bossard; sister, Dorothy Elaine White; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 7:00pm in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
