Frances Carroll Stackhouse Obituary

Frances Carroll Stackhouse, loving wife, mother of five, grandmother of 13 and great grandmother of 27 passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024 at the age of 93.

Carroll was born on March 3, 1931 in Fort Wayne to Glen and Wanda (Brown) Stilwell.  She was a 1949 graduate of North Side High School in Fort Wayne. 

She married Willis Ralph Stackhouse on September 11, 1949 in her mother’s home and was married for 67 years, living all of her married life in Fairfield Township before Ralph passed away on January 30, 2017. 

Carroll was a homemaker and took great pride in raising her family, they were everything to her!  She also worked hard alongside her husband helping to run their farm by milking cows and driving tractors.  After their retirement from farming, she and Ralph enjoyed wintering in their Florida home.  In 2021, Carroll moved to the Chandler Place in Kendallville to live her 90’s. 

She was a member of the Fairfield Homemakers Club.  She enjoyed the many years of the monthly meetings with her friends.  They were able to get away from their kids and have fun talking and playing games. 

Survivors Include:

Daughter; Connie Hoffelder and Gene Evans of Elyria, Ohio.

Son and daughter-in-law; Tom and Susan Stackhouse of Hamilton.

Daughter; Rhonda Putt of Fort Wayne.

Daughter and son-in-law; Jill and Richard Christlieb of Corunna.

Son; David Stackhouse of Corunna.

11 grandchildren and their spouses; Lori and Jay Lawrence, Regina and Ryan Wagner, Jeremy and Brandi Stackhouse, Karson and Joline Putt, Austin and Elizabeth Putt, Shelby and Mark Jedele, Kurtis and Lori Christlieb, Travis and Ann Stackhouse, Morgan and Brook Likes, Bridgette and Elliot Minnich and Colby and Taren Stackhouse.

27 great grandchildren.

Niece; Wendy Qualls of Florida.

Nephew; Mike Qualls of Arizona.

Carroll was preceded in death by her father; Glen Stilwell, her mother and stepfather; Wanda and Leonard Tempel, her husband; Willis Ralph Stackhouse, two grandsons; Logan Putt and Richard Christlieb III, three great grandsons; Ethan Christlieb, Oliver Stackhouse and Eric Putt, sister and brother-in-law; Patricia Joan and Dick Qualls, son-in-law; Mark Putt, niece; Nancy Qualls, 11 brothers-in-law and 11 sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street in Waterloo. 

A celebration of life will be held on Friday immediately following the visitation at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Jerry Weller officiating.

Burial will take place at the Fairfield Cemetery, Corunna.

Memorials may be made in honor of Carroll to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 and the DeKalb Humane Society, PO Box 806, Auburn, Indiana 46706.
