Melvin Kenneth Gilliam Obituary

Kenneth ‘Ken’ Gilliam, 88 passed away peacefully in his home on Monday September 9th, 2024 after a lengthy decline in health. He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin R. Gilliam and Ella Pearl (Porter) Gilliam and one son Mitchell Keith Gilliam.

Raised in Logan County but a long-time Warren County resident, Kenneth spent nearly all his adult life in the car business, the majority of which was spent with his good friend Jim Johnson.

He was one of the early members of Living Hope Baptist Church in Bowling Green where he served faithfully in several capacities including Trustee (Chairman) and Chairman of the Ushers, where he was always the first one there and the last one to leave each Sunday.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 55 years Carolynn ‘Sue’ Gilliam. He is also survived by three sons Kenny Gilliam, Mark Allen Gilliam (Cindy) and Charles Keith Gilliam. Five precious grandchildren Jennifer Ennis (Chad), Brandon Gilliam (Lydia), Matthew Gilliam, Megan Banhidy (Luke) and Emma Gilliam. Six precious great-grandchildren Addison Ennis, Tucker Ennis, Hudson Gilliam, Carter Gilliam, Landon Gilliam and Colton Banhidy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Kenneth was known for his great work ethic, attention to detail, kindness, wisdom, and generosity, but he was known best as a Godly man. His faith in Christ sustained him during life’s many challenges and gave him the hope that he shared with others as the Lord gave him opportunity.

There will be a private family graveside service, Saturday September 14th followed by a public visitation at Living Hope Baptist Church from 2-6 pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of J. C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Hosparus Health at the following link https://fundraise.givesmart.com/form/hX7ubQ?utm_source=embed&utm_medium=page&utm_campaign=donation&vid=17gqux

Words cannot express the gratitude of the family to the wonderful caregivers there for their kindness, professionalism and support.
