Louis Giarrusso, 101, of Cranston, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 9, 2024. He was the husband of the late Louise (Muciaro) Giarrusso and the loving father of Patricia Giarrusso.
Born May 11, 1923, in Lawrence, MA, he was a son of the late Silvestro and Antonia (Orlando) Giarrusso, and the brother of the late Anthony Giarrusso and Michele Giarrusso.
Mr. Giarrusso served our nation with the US Army during WWII. After returning home, he studied at Johnson and Wales College where he graduated in 1948. He was the oldest surviving member of his class.
He made his career with General Electric and retired as a Business Systems Analyst. He was an active chess player in Rhode Island and was honored at the occasion of his 100th birthday and his 101st birthday with tournaments in his name.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, Sept. 15, from 2pm until 4pm in the “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. A funeral service will begin Monday, Sept. 16, at 10am in the Woodridge Congregational Church, Cranston. Military honors and burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
