On Monday, September 9th, 2024 Ike Foister, loving husband to Marie for 70 years, father of three, PawPaw to four and good PawPaw of two, passed from this life at the age of 94. On August 2nd, 1930, Ike was born Isaac Foister, to Lula Mae and Henry Lee Foister in Manchester County, Kentucky. He spent most of his younger years in Big Creek, Clay County, Kentucky before joining the United States Air Force at the age of 17. In 1952, he met and married his wife, Marie Palmer of 70 years in Mobile, Alabama.
Ike served in the United States Air Force for just over 6 years having enlisted in January 1948 during the Cold War and served as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War until August of 1954. During his service in the United States Air Force, Ike worked on communications and radar equipment which launched his civilian career as an Electronic Technician. Ike worked for the Department of Defense beginning in January of 1958 and retired from the DOD in January of 1988. He spent his 30 year career designing and overseeing the installation of airbase landing systems for the DOD worldwide including Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States.
Ike is proceeded in death by his loving wife, Marie. He will be remembered and missed by his three children and their spouses; son Tony and his wife Debbie Foister of Brandon, FL, son Randy Foister of OKC, and his daughter Sherrie and her husband Paden Conley of Newcastle, OK; his four grandsons and their spouses, Shelby and his wife Suzette Foister of Plant City, FL, Lake and his wife Lex Conley of OKC, Gant and his wife Alaina Conley of OKC, and Finley Foister of Mustang; two great granddaughters, Hazel Marie Foister of Plant City, FL and Reagan Marie Conley of OKC; his brother Roy Foister and his son Todd Foister; and his sister Zella and her husband Albert Cheek. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Henry and Lula Foister of Daytona Beach, FL; his sisters Eddie Cornett and Juanita Topping both of Florida, and brothers Ernie Foister of North Carolina, and Cecil Foister of Virginia.
Ike will also be remembered and missed by many nieces and nephews
