PALMYRA-Alice “Lally” S. Caldwell, 84, went home to be with the Lord on September 9, 2024, with her family by her side at her home in Palmyra.
She was born on September 26, 1939, a daughter of Anson and Alice (Weeman) Crowell Sr. She attended Hartland Academy and married Clarence “Bing” Caldwell. They moved to St. Albans where they raised four daughters together. She retired from the Irving Tannery after 38 years of employment and remained active by volunteering for the meals for me program.
Lally was a loving wife, mom, and grandmother. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed working in her flower gardens, and loved to bake sweet treats for her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed word search puzzles, going to the country jams, and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her three daughters: Sandy Lemasters of Ohio, Kathy-Jo McGraw and husband Fred of Hartland, and Kaylene Morrison and husband Randy of Palmyra; seven grandchildren: Tim Tibbetts and Jeanette, Webn Lemasters, Amanda McGraw and Jeremy, Alison Getchell, Alfred Morrison and Holli, Hillary McGraw, and Destiny Bishop and Ben; eleven great-grandchildren: Ayla, Aubre, Jacob, Eli, Shelby, Charlotte, LB, Laney, Paityn, Ryan, and Odin; one great-great-grandson, Dimitri; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Caldwell; her daughter, Karen Lane; great-grandson, Shawn Morrison; and 11 siblings.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., with a funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A private family committal will take place at the Maloon Cemetery in St. Albans.
