Green Bay – Corey P. Callahan, 54, of Green Bay, Wisc., passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 5, 2024, in Fence, Wisc.
Corey was born on February 11, 1970, in Green Bay, Wisc., to Patrick and Karen (Heglund) Callahan.
As a child, he was said to be high energy and a “handful”, his grandmother broke many wooden spoons on his backside.
He graduated from Green Bay Southwest High School, class of 1989. He later attended Gogebic Tech, where he received a degree in Ski Management. After receiving his degree, he moved to Colorado, where he eventually began to run heavy equipment.
He returned to Wisconsin to be near his family and became a member of the Operating Engineers Local 139, and was proud of the many projects of which he was a part of building.
He met his future wife Kari in 2002, and they married in 2017 with a ceremony in Jamaica. They had many adventures together travelling all of the U.S., along with going to Ireland and Iceland. Corey said he had never felt so relaxed in his entire life as when he was in the Blue Lagoon Hot Spring in Iceland.
Corey loved the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his passions. He lived for his yearly ice fishing trips to Lake Winnibigoshish, Minnesota. He had great memories of Canadian fishing trips with his cousin, Todd, and other family, and friends. His memories of many pheasant hunting trips to Nebraska, and elk hunting trips in Colorado, all meant so much to him.
He was an avid, almost to the point of obsession, sports fan. His favorite teams were the Packers, Brewers, and Colorado Avalanche. He loved Tiger Woods, and would continue to hope for his comeback.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kari Callahan; two dogs, “my sweet little baby Sierra”, and Maddie; parents, Patrick “Pat” and Karen Callahan; sister, Colleen Callahan; and numerous relatives, and friends.
