Joyce Caroline Elliott Brookshire, 81, beloved widow of Arthur C. Brookshire, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024. Born on May 4, 1943, in Estill County, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Gentry Elliott and Atwood Elliott. Joyce dedicated much of her life as an administrative assistant in the Clark County School System and was deeply rooted in her faith.
She is survived by her children, Daniel Brett and Laura (Wes) Stewart; stepchildren, David (Dana) Brookshire and Chuck (Cindy) Brookshire; as well as numerous grandchildren including Daniel (Valerie) Brett, Kyle (Ashley) Brett, Jessica (Chris) Martin, Liam (Kylie) Stewart, Adian Stewart, and Ashley Payton; sisters, Patricia Hull and Shirley Carrington; brother, Steve “Parkie” Elliott. Joyce also leaves behind several great-grandchildren, extended family members, and her dear friend, Joyce Ratliff.
Joyce is preceded in death by her son, David Brett; grandchildren Charles David Short and Chris Bond; and her siblings, Dale Elliott and Wanda Faye Withers.
A visitation will be held at Scobee Funeral Home on Thursday, September 12, 2024, beginning at 12:00 p.m., followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Dr. Todd Rader. Joyce will be laid to rest at Clarmont Memorial Gardens.
