In loving memory of Jessie Doreen White (nee Burden)

On September 9, 2024, Jessie White passed away peacefully at James Paton Memorial Health Centre, Gander, with her family and dear friend by her side. She leaves to mourn her son, Garry (Cynthia); daughter Donna; and her grandson Dylan - Grammy's boy, who was her pride and joy and brightest light; her brother Mac Burden; special niece Marilyn; and nephews, and dear friend Kim Marshall.

Predeceased by her husband, George White; parents James and Lydia Burden; partner Chesley Pardy; brother Edgar Burden; and sisters-in-law Cynthia Burden and Margaret Burden.

Jessie was a woman of deep faith and unwavering commitment to her family.

Mom started her adult life as a clerk at the local Co-op store in her hometown of Salvage. She met and married our father, George White, who was the local school teacher in Salvage and then moved to Greenspond. They made the move to Benton and mom commenced her career as the "Postmaster" for 46 1/2 years, a job which she thoroughly loved and she was known for her reliability, knowledge and the respect she showed to everyone she encountered.

To her family Jessie was the embodiment of kindness and gentleness. A nurturing mother, loving grammy, wonderful sister, aunt, friend, she filled her family with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Her family was everything to her and her legacy of love and care will be carried on by those who knew her best.

Family and friends will be received at Oram's Funeral Home, Eastport, on Wednesday, September 11, from 2-4 p.m. Reverend Andreas Thiel will conduct the funeral service from St. Stephen's Anglican Church in Salvage on Thursday, September 12 at 2:00 p.m.

The White family would like to thank the staff in the emergency room and on the medical floor at JPMHC for their professionalism, kindness and care, and her homecare workers, especially Sharon, for the special care and being there for mom.
