Scott Allen Burgy, 45, of Belpre, OH departed this life into his heavenly home on Monday, September 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 4, 1979 in Parkersburg, WV, the son of Martin E. and Esther J. Backus Burgy. Scott was employed by Kraton in Belpre, OH as a chemical operator. Scott was a graduate of Wirt County High School, and loved the outdoors, RC racing and kayaking. Scott was also an avid mountain biker, fly fisherman, musician, and Scott had a love and a gifting for the art of Bonsai gardening, and for the craft of creating fly fishing lures.

Scott is known as the guy who “finishes the race.” Several years ago, Scott was competing in a challenging mountain bike race, and when he began the race, he shot out of the starting point in the lead. At some point in his race, Scott’s bike malfunctioned setting him back from the lead. Bystanders noted that to their amazement that after a short while, emerging from the woods, like something from an epic movie, Scott could be witnessed running and carrying his bike. Scott not only speedily carried his bike across that finish line that day, but he WON the race ! …Scott is a guy who not only finishes the race , but he is a guy who WINS the race because he had accepted Jesus as his Savior. …And as in the words of the apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 4:7 ... Scott has fought the good fight. He has finished the race, and he has kept the faith, as he entered into glory with Jesus victoriously forever.

In addition to his parents, Scott is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Kelli Clifford Burgy; daughter, Morgan Burgy; sister, Jenifer Swann of Elizabeth, WV; grandmother, Sharon Morris of Harrisville, WV and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martin L. and Loretta M. Burgy and Otto D. Backus; great grandparents, Bob and Myrtle Drain, and Hattie and John Backus.
