His presence in our lives was a gift, and his memory will remain a source of inspiration and comfort to all who knew him.
Born August 18, 1944, Willie Johnson Jacobs dedicated his life to family, work, and faith. A proud veteran, he served his country during the height of the Vietnam War with honor, courage, and distinction. Upon returning home, he devoted himself to his family and career, building a successful life as a skilled master fabrication craftsman. He later served as a general foreman overseeing the fabrication shop at the Brunswick Nuclear Plant, where his leadership, integrity, and expertise earned him the respect of all who worked with him.
Willie Jacobs shared a remarkable 58-year marriage with his devoted wife, Lynda Faye Freeman Jacobs, his lifelong partner and the love of his life. Together, they created a strong and loving family, raising Areda Rogers and her husband Edward, Stephanie Jacobs and her husband Henry, and Lazarus Oxendine and Haley. They were further blessed with six grandchildren and a growing number of great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished. He found great joy in spending time with his family, always offering guidance, support, and love.
A man of deep faith, Willie Johnson Jacobs was a dedicated member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he found fulfillment in serving as both a deacon and a Sunday School teacher. His unwavering commitment to his faith and community was evident in every aspect of his life, whether leading by example or lending a helping hand to those in need. His spiritual leadership, quiet wisdom, and compassion will be deeply missed by his church family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though we grieve the loss of such a remarkable man, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy of love, service, and faith will endure through the many lives he touched. The impact he made on his family, community, and church is beyond measure, and his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
A service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to the New Hope Baptist Men of the Buckhead Community.
With deepest gratitude for a life well-lived,
