Charles Vaughn Hunt, 87, of High Point, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the Hospice Home of High Point.
He was born September 28, 1936, in Guilford County, to the late Clifton (Chek) Hunt and the late Lola Brown Hunt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Hunt and his granddaughter, Jennifer Burris.
Mr. Hunt was a loving husband to his beloved wife, Alice, whom he married April 21, 1961. He had a gregarious personality, was well liked, and he loved all people. He was an Executive Chef and loved to cook for his family. Charles enjoyed fishing and was passionate about fast cars; “Racing Thru Life’ was his motto. He spent many of his younger years racing cars on the dirt roads of the Randleman area.
A true Patriot, he would wear red, white, and blue colors regularly. He served our country in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Patrick Henry, USS Hornet, USS Eisenhower and the USS Nathan Hale.
Left to cherish his memory: his beloved wife of 62 years, Alice Mendieta Hunt; daughters, Patricia “Patty” White and husband Frederic, Catherine Davis and husband Douglas, Miriam Potter, and Vivian Mock and husband Timothy; sons, Charles Hunt and wife Nanette and Darren Hunt and wife Amber; grandchildren, Adam, Travis, Amanda, Alyssa, Matthew, Patrick, Andrew, Kristen, Victoria, Alexander, Daniel, Crystal, Nicholas, Aaron, Robert, Carmen, Adrian, Brianna, Miles and Dylan; 23 great grandchildren;1 great great grandchild; his brother, Walter Hunt and wife Rebecca; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, September 13, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church Cemetery in Kernersville.
The family will visit with friends following the service.
