Delmer Christensen, 88, Kenmare, ND, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 9, 2024 on the family homestead in Kandiyohi Township, less than 100 yards from where he was born.

Delmer Arland Christensen was born on October 3, 1935, a son of Arthur and Ruby (Lindberg) Christensen on the family homestead in Kandiyohi Township, ND. He attended Kandiyohi School through the 8th grade. After graduation, he left school to work on the family farm as well as the Bodmer Brothers Farm.

On August 27, 1961 Delmer was united in marriage to Shirley Irene Egger. They made their home on the Christensen family farm, where they raised their children. Delmer began work at the Farmers Union Oil in January of 1962 becoming Hardware Manager and retiring in April of 2004. During this time he was farming as well tending to sheep and cows.

He enjoyed fishing trips/adventures to Jan Lake in Canada with family and friends. He loved being on the water and watching the boats go out. He liked deer hunting with family as well. Delmer also loved listening to music on TV as his family can attest to. He looked forward to his yearly trip to “Frozen Fingers” with his wife, where they still danced.

Since 1952 Delmer was an active member of the Elmdale Lutheran Church, Niobe, ND.

Delmer is survived by:

Wife of 63 years, Shirley; Sons, Barry Christensen and Larry Christensen; Daughters, Shelley (Gordon) Hauge, Tammy (Thomas) LaViolette, Penny (Kevin) Replogle; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; Brothers, Kenny Christensen, Harold (Juline) Christensen, Jay (Dorothy) Christensen; Sister, Irene Olson; Along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Delmer was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bernice (Lloyd) Halvorson; brother-in-law, Rodney Olson; and sister-in-law, Donna Christensen.

Funeral Service: Monday, September 16, 2024 at 2 pm at the Elmdale Lutheran Church, Niobe, ND.

Signing of Guest Book: Will take place one hour prior to the service time.

Burial: Elmdale Lutheran Cemetery, Niobe, ND.
