Judith (Judy) Ann (Koehler) Beatty, age 85, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away September 9, 2024 at her home in Stromsburg.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Mary Pinley officiating and Pastor Bob Johnson assisting. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 11 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Evangelical Covenant Church. Pianist will be Carolyn Hanson. Musical selections will be “In the Garden”, “Precious Lord Take My Hand”, “Amazing Grace”, and “How Great Thou Art.” Pallbearers will be Tyler Lamoree, Tanner Lamoree, Presley Nannen, Derek Vrtiska, Terry Uland, and Corey Nienhueser. Interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.

Judy was born April 17, 1939 to Wesley A. and Bernice M. (Cherry) Koehler in Osceola, Nebraska. She attended school in Osceola and graduated in 1957. She was the band majorette for four years in high school.

On April 8, 1962 she was united in marriage to Wayne Beatty at the Osceola United Methodist Church. They were married 60 years and to this union three daughters were born. They lived on a farm east of Stromsburg.

She worked as a secretary at Norton and Norton Law Office for 8 years. For 16 years, she worked at the Midwest Covenant Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant and in the nursing medical office. She worked at the Senior Center in the business office. Judy also gave piano lessons before and after marriage. She also supported Wayne in farming.

Judy loved music and was involved in multiple facets over her lifetime. She was a member of the Stromsburg United Methodist Church where she played piano for services, directed children and women choirs, and directed the Elementary, Junior High, High School, and Women handbell choirs for 30+ years.

She was a member of Stromsburg Eastern Star #192 where she was a member for 67 years serving as Worthy Matron and several other positions.

Judy was very involved in her community. Judy and her husband Wayne delighted children as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for over 40 years. Judy directed the Vintage Voices singing patriotic songs. She wrote the article for the Senior Center in the local newspaper and volunteered updating their monthly calendar board. She enjoyed visiting with friends, watching sports, and westerns. She loved her family very much and enjoyed attending their functions.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Sue (Brian) Nannen of Lincoln, Julie (Doug) Lamoree of Stromsburg and Kristi (Mark) Strasheim of Lincoln; eight grandchildren: Scarlett (Mark) Murphy, Presley Nannen, Kassie (Derek) Vrtiska, Tyler (Kate) Lamoree, Kylie Lamoree, Tanner Lamoree, Siarrah Strasheim, Marisah Strasheim and three great grandchildren Daylinn Nannen, Lennon Vrtiska, Leighton Vrtiska; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Beatty, her parents Wesley A. and Bernice; brothers Wesley E. and Ronald Koehler, Sisters June (Don) Uland, Mary (DeVern) Rodene, and Shirley (Melvin) McGimpsey.
