Randolph Prather Obituary

Randolph Prather was born July 4, 1949, to the late Jeannie Mae and Leroy Prather, in Meriwether County. He attended Meriwether County Training Center and college at Upson Technical College in Upson County majoring in Auto Body Mechanics and started a successful career at General Motors Corporation in Atlanta, Georgia.

He worked as an assembly line worker and had the opportunity to work at the Lakewood Plant and the Anderson Indiana GM Plant. He owned Prather’s Lawn Service for many years as he believed that if a man didn’t work he didn’t eat. He worked for General Motors for over 30 years. He retired before his 50th birthday and spent many years traveling and enjoying life.

He eventually owned a successful cleaning business before he was diagnosed with Dementia. He loved to cook, one of his specialties was cooking on the grill and enjoyed a great cookout as he believed that meals brought people together. His favorite holiday was Fourth of July as he would cookout, celebrate his birthday, and gather with friends and family.

He departed his life peacefully on August 30, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother Jeannie Mae Prather, father Leroy Prather, son Marcus Jerome Prather, and love of his life Vivian Elaine Prather.
