With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Annie Ruth Thompson, who departed this life on Thursday, September 5th, at the age of 66. Annie Ruth, affectionately known as “Rose” to her beloved husband, Carl Thompson, was a treasured wife, a devoted maternal figure to Timothy “Caleb” Allen, a cherished sister, aunt, and a dear friend.
Born on May 19, 1958, in Anderson, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Francis and Rosalee Speed Gibert. Annie Ruth was a graduate of Crescent High School. She devoted the majority of her professional career to the field of food and nutrition, culminating in her retirement from AnMed Healthcare System. Annie Ruth was a devout Christian. She attended Word Tabernacle Church in Anderson, SC. Annie Ruth’s life was a testament to her profound Christian faith, marked by unwavering devotion and a relentless commitment to her family and friends.
Annie Ruth is survived by her husband, Carl W. Thompson, a beloved nephew, Timothy “Caleb” Allen. She will be fondly remembered by her devoted sisters, Lena Gibert, Irene Allen (Timothy), and Pennye “Velva” Rorie; her brothers, James Gibert (Alice Faye), Sandris Gibert (Josephine), Robert Gibert, and Roy Gibert. She is also remembered by her nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Francis and Rosa Lee Gibert and her siblings, Donald Gibert, Beverly Gibert, Betty Jean Wideman, and Frank Gibert, Jr.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 8th, at 2:30 PM at Word Tabernacle Church located at 3616 S. Main Street, Anderson, SC with viewing from 1:30-2:30 PM. The interment will be at South Lawn Memorial Garden located at 1350 Flat Rock Road, Starr, SC 29684.
