Patricia A. Sampson, affectionately known as Pat to her friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on the 5th of September 2024, at the age of 77. Born on November 15, 1946, in Evansville, Pat lived a full and vibrant life in Boonville, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family and friends.
Pat's journey began as a bright-eyed child in Evansville, where she cultivated a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a deep sense of community. A beacon of kindness, Pat's heart was as expansive as her smile, touching everyone she encountered. Her love story with her beloved husband, Donald Sampson, was one for the ages; together they navigated the waters of life for 53 remarkable years, creating a legacy of love and family.
The proud matriarch of a bustling household, Pat's joy was multiplied through her children: Jimmy
Sampson and his wife Marla, Michelle Calvert, and Kelly Messamore, along with her husband Larry. Her nurturing spirit continued to blossom with the arrival of each grandchild – Chloe, Dana (Matthew),
Leah (Justin), Eric, Drew, Susan, Ronald and his wife Madeline, and Patricia Alexander – and later, with the sweet giggles of ten great-grandchildren, who brought immense happiness to her later years.
A guiding light for her family, Pat was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth Darling and Emogene Box,
sister, Brenda Goffinet, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories. Her family, a testament to her boundless love and care, remains a strong and loving unit, honoring her legacy through their continued bonds and shared remembrances.
Professionally, Pat was a respected and dedicated member of the legal community, having retired after
30 years of exemplary service at a local law office. Her work ethic, integrity, and compassionate nature
were hallmarks of her career, earning her the admiration and respect of her colleagues and clients alike.
Pat's interests and hobbies painted a picture of a woman with a creative soul and an insatiable curiosity. A master of quilting and sewing, she crafted beautiful pieces that served as warm reminders of her love and talent. Her passion for reading transported her to different worlds and times, while her love for horseback riding provided a sense of freedom and connection with nature that she cherished deeply.
Above all, Pat will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, her graceful resilience, and her ability to
find joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her laughter was infectious, her advice was sought after, and her presence was a comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
As we bid farewell to Patricia A. Sampson, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, love, and a touch of
grace that will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. Her spirit, a gentle whisper in the
rustling leaves and the quiet strength in the stitches of a quilt, will continue to inspire and guide us.
Pat's life will be honored, and her memory cherished in a private ceremony, where her family and close
friends will gather to share stories, tears, and laughter – all in tribute to a remarkable woman whose life
was as rich and colorful as the quilts she crafted with such care.
In the tapestry of life, Pat's thread was golden; it shone brightly, weaving through the fabric of many lives, leaving us with a pattern of love and cherished memories that will never fade. Rest in peace, dear Pat – your legacy endures.
