Carl R. Power Obituary
Carl R. Power, age 90, of Claymont, DE passed away peacefully August 30, 2024 after a long battle with dementia.
Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada in 1934, he moved to Claymont, DE in the early 60’s. After graduating from high school, Carl received his master electrician’s certificate and had a long career as a union electrician.
Carl was an avid Philadelphia Flyer’s fan. His true joy was ballroom dancing with his special partner, Eleanor.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, John S. and Mae Power, brother, Richard, daughters, Terry, Katie and granddaughter, Jessica. He is survived by his sons, Ray (Bonnie), Gerald (Kathryn), Gary, Bob (Terry); 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Carl will also be dearly missed by his sister, Thelma (Len), brother, Don (Sylvia) and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to caretaker, Kathy Loomis, for her kindness, warmth and care during Carl’s final days.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 10am to 11am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Burial will be private.
