It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Daylon on August 30, 2024, as a result of a tragic bicycle accident on August 29, 2024. God knows what happened that day and we find great solace in knowing He knows, and this needs no explanation of the powers at hand for us to the find answers to what is a painful, heart-breaking mystery.
Daylon V. Hoffman of Corry, PA, was born on September 3, 1967, in Erie, PA to Donald W. Hoffman and Julia A. Hoffman. He was named after the late, great country music star Waylon Jennings. He was raised and educated in Corry, PA where he lived all of his life.
Daylon was a great outdoorsman who enjoyed traveling the countryside locally on his bicycle, visiting a nearby stream, listening to and watching wildlife. He especially enjoyed the Kinzua Dam area in Warren, PA during many a car trip there with his family. He was a kind and compassionate soul with a gentleness about him, yet he knew how to stand up for himself. He had only just begun to make some new decisions in his life to fulfill his dreams, when his life was taken so tragically.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Kelly Hoffman and Mary J. Hoffman and his maternal grandparents Alexander and Lillian Sadowski and by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Daylon is survived by his father, Donald W. Hoffman of Erie, Pa, mother, Julia A. Hoffman of Columbus, PA, brother, Darren L. Hoffman of Columbus, PA, sister, Darlene M. Hoffman of Waterford, PA, sister-n-law Lisa Hoffman of Illinois, niece, Dr. Kaitlyn Hoffman of Las Vegas, NV, niece, Sarah Hoffman and nephew, Alexander Hoffman both of Illinois. Uncle, David Stino of Columbus, PA, Uncle, Stanley Zajac of Bear Lake, Pa, Uncle Raymond Clark and Aunt Eunie Clark of Mount Holly, NC and by many dear cousins.
Daylon will so very deeply be missed, but he will live on in our hearts and cherished memories.
"The days of wine and roses
Laugh and run away
Like a child at play
Through the meadow land toward a closing door
The door marked "nevermore"
That wasn't there before.
The lonely night discloses
Just a passing breeze filled with memories
Of the golden smile that introduced me to
The days of wine and roses, and you."
