Mary Elizabeth Warren Faris, age 91 of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. She was born in White House, Tennessee on February 18, 1933, to the late Carmon Clarence and Zula Rice (Marlin) Warren. Mary Elizabeth was valedictorian of her eighth grade and high school senior class. Before her retirement, she was employed by the Franklin County Board of Education as an educator for forty-three years. She continued to be a member of educational organizations, Franklin County Retired Teachers and Delta Kappa Gamma, as well as DAR. A life-long learner, she enjoyed reading all types of genres. Mary Elizabeth was a devoted member of Farris Chapel Methodist Church, where she played the piano for over forty years and enjoyed the Ladies Quilting Group. She will be remembered as a fine Christian woman and for the love she shared for her beloved family, especially cherishing the time spent with her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant brother, Brice Warren; and husband of forty-three years, Thomas A. Faris. Mary Elizabeth is survived by her loving son, Thomas (Tina) Faris; grandchildren, Michele Faris (Jeff) Cotten, Thomas A. (Helen) Faris, and Amber Faris (Gavin Helton); great-grandchildren, Penelope Kate Faris, Flynn Roxas Helton; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; her church family at Farris Chapel United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 8, 2024, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Winchester Memorial Park. The family would like to give a special thanks to caregivers Janice and Elisha and the staff of Franklin Manor for the love and care shown to Mary Elizabeth.
