ROCKY MOUNT – Pattie Mae Holloman Smith, age 89, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Born in Edgecombe County, NC on June 6, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Elisha James Holloman and Mable Thorp Holloman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Smith, Sr.; her granddaughter, Kelly Lynne Watson; her brother, Curtis Lee Holloman; and her sister, Mary Magdalene Holloman Page.

A woman of deep faith, Pattie was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount where she was baptized, and also attended Benvenue Baptist Church. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Thomas Café for over 20 years before going to work for Rocky Mount Undergarments where she remained for another 30 years. Pattie retired at age 80 from Anna’s Linen, formerly PLEJ’s Linen. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend to many, Pattie will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all those who knew her.

Pattie is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann Watson (Gregory); her sons, Robert Earl "Robbie" Smith, Jr. (Denise), and James Oliver Smith (Gail); her grandchildren, Kent Watson, Jennifer Watson (Phillip Lamm), Amber Weed, Mollie Smith, Jonathan Smith, Jayce Goff (Megan); and Heather Buchanan (Daniel); and; her great-grandchildren, Makayla Starling, Elizabeth Weed, Collin Cox, and Malachi Ford; her sister, Nellie Pearl Tucker; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dearest friends.

A Graveside Service to celebrate Pattie’s life will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4454 Dortches Blvd., Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Rev. Richard Collins officiating. Visitation with the family will be following the graveside service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
