PEGGY ANTHONY Obituary

Peggy A. Shockley-Anthony was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 12, 1952 to Minnie Lee Shockley and Roy Shockley.

Peggy dedicated and gave her life to Christ at a young age. Peggy attended Indianapolis Public School #64 and later graduated from Wood High School.

Peggy was employed at L.S. Ayres, Paul Harris and various other jobs, but her job for the last 30 plus years was raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Peggy was known as “Granny” to her grandchildren, but called “Granny” by many that met her. Peggy/Granny loved to feed everyone that came to her house.

Peggy departed this earthly life on August 30, 2024 at the age of    seventy-one years, ten months and eighteen days. She  was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Shockley; father, Roy Shockley; sister, Mattie “Bitty” Shockley; brothers, Joe Robert Shockley, Rosevelt “Popsicle” Swope, and Pasto “Bay-Bay” Shockley; grandchildren, Ciera Carter and Cedric Carter.

Peggy leaves to cherish her long time companion, Charles Massey; daughter, Cheryl Carter; step-children, Delisa, Dexter, Clark Massey,  and Sophia (Teddy Murf); brother, Roy   Shockley; sister, Patty Shockley (Louis Mitchell); cousin/sister, Reba Reedy; grandchildren, Courtney, Cameron, Cidney and Chandon Carter; great-grandchildren, Raniya, Ny’ana, Courtney Jr., Lamaurie, Gabriel, Channing, Ashton, and Illie Carter; and a host of nieces and nephews. Peggy will be greatly missed and never forgotten!!

 

No farewell words were spoken,

No time to say goodbye,

You were gone before we knew it,

And only God knows why.
