Austin Boudreau Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving patriarch. Austin passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family at Health Science North Hospital on Friday August 30th at the age of 92 years. Son of the late Sam and late Gertrude Boudreau. Beloved husband and soulmate of 68 years to Emilienne (née Savoie) Boudreau. Loving father of Lynn Champagne and Kimberley Bradley. Cherished grandfather of Alexandra Boudreau (Lee), Samantha Champagne (Carter), Celina Champagne (Will) and Jayna Bradley (Ben). Proud great-grandfather of Fallon. Predeceased by his sister Obeline Burke and brothers Buddy Boudreau (Lucille) and his brother Henry in infancy. Survived by his sister-in-law Lucille, brother-in-law Gerald Savoie (Elizabeth) and his sister-in-law Cécile Savoie (late Ernest). He will be sadly missed by all of his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Austin will be remembered for being an amazing husband, family man and mentor. He always said his family was his biggest accomplishment. Austin was born in Seaview, Richmond County Nova-Scotia. He was a very proud Cape Bretoner. He moved to Sudbury in 1950 to begin his long career in mining. He began work at Creighton Mine in 1950 and retired at Little Stobie in 1987. Once retired, Austin rediscovered his passion for woodwork and carpentry and built his dream home for his family and friends to enjoy together. He will forever be remembered for his strong work ethic, his integrity, sense of humour and willingness to give people a chance.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church, Sudbury followed by a luncheon. A special thank you to the wonderful Doctors (Dr. N. Goodale, Dr. G. Desmarais, Dr. C. Pun, Dr. R. Singh), health care providers, and palliative team, and all the many families and friends that came to visit and support him. In lieu of flowers, donations by cheque or online to Maison McCulloch Hospice would be greatly appreciated. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
