Wade Paul Cook, 88, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024. Born on February 6, 1936, in

Newark, NJ, Wade lived a life full of service, love, and community.


Wade is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Patricia Cook, and his three children: Michael

Cook (Lisa) and their children Taylor (Rachel) and Katelyn; Lori Daniels (Dennis) and their

children Leigh Ann (Kurt) and Kelly (Mario); and Wendy Kotlar (Rob) and their children Jenna

and Bryan. Wade was also the proud great-grandfather to Leigh Ann and Kurt’s daughter,

Charlotte May, and Mario’s son (Kelly’s stepson) Nathan.


He is also survived by his sister Lillian and his brother Edward (Betsy). He was predeceased by

his parents, Jaleelie and Najeeb; his brother Roger and Roger’s wife Peggy; and his sister Julia

and Julia’s husband Woody. Wade is also lovingly remembered by his 6 grandchildren, 13

nieces and nephews, and many extended family members.


Wade raised his family in Summit, NJ, where he was deeply involved in his children’s’ lives and

the community. He worked as a Funeral Director in Summit for 18 years before retiring from the

U.S. Postal Service in 1998. A dedicated member of the National Guard, Wade also served as

Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He was an active member of St. Teresa’s Catholic

Church, where he sang in the choir. He also loved sports, serving as a softball umpire for the

men’s slow-pitch league. Wade’s favorite sports teams were the NY Yankees and the NY Giants.


In 2001, Wade and Patricia moved to Murrells Inlet, SC, where they built their dream home near

the beach. Wade continued his legacy of community service by organizing food drives,

participating in the community watch and serving on the grounds committee. A member of Belin

United Methodist Church, Wade sang in the choir and was known for his deep faith and joyful spirit.


Wade was an avid golfer who loved playing rounds with friends and his wife, Pat. The couple

enjoyed traveling, with their most memorable journey being a 45-day cross-country road trip.

Wade was a jokester with a heart of gold who never met a stranger. He was well-liked, knew

everyone, and was extremely proud of his family.


Wade’s life will be celebrated in a service at Belin United Methodist Church Murrells Inlet, SC at

10:00 AM on Saturday September 28. A reception will follow at the Elks Lodge also located in

Murrells Inlet, SC.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.


Wade will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother,

uncle and friend. His legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication to his family and community will

live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
