Louella Breaux Ransonet Obituary

"Be not afraid, I go before you always, come follow me and I will give you rest."

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 1:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Scott for Louella Eve Breaux Ransonet, age 81, who passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Landmark of Rayne from the effects of Alzheimer's Disease. The family requests that visitation be observed on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services in the funeral home.

Interment will be held in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

Reverend Gilbert Dutel will officiate the services. Lectors will be Kay Ellen Henderson and Aimee Mittelsteadt.

Louella was born in Scott, LA on March 8, 1943, the third child of Paul and Myrtle Comeaux Breaux. She attended schools in Scott, graduating from Scott High School in 1961, as Salutatorian. Active in many school organizations and a three-year cheerleader, her finest achievements were in music, as lead French horn player in the high school band and her excellence in chorus. Encouraged by her choral teacher to pursue a degree in music, she chose a career in the legal profession. Louella directed and sang in the Sts. Peter & Paul Senior Choir for many years.

Immediately after graduation, she began employment with the law firm of (Bill) McBride and (Bill) Brewster. At different times during her 52-year tenure, attorneys Bob McBride, Norm Foret, Glen Rozas, and Jim Leonard joined the firm. In the end, only she and Bob McBride remained when the firm was closed in 2013.

In 1966, she married her soulmate, Gerry "Buck" Ransonet from Loreauville. They were married for 49 years until Buck's untimely death in 2015. Louella would never recover from her loss.

Intelligent, witty, artistic, and in-charge, we will truly miss those dynamics in our family. We will undoubtedly miss her antics!

Louella is survived by one daughter, Dr. Leigh Ellen Henderson and her husband, Dr. Jonathan Henderson. Granny is also survived by her four grandchildren, John Parker "Jeep" Henderson and his wife, Mallory, Lucas Patrick Henderson and his wife, Haley with a great granddaughter on the way, Katherine Ellen Henderson and Meryl Eileen Henderson; her siblings, Ronald and Doris Breaux, Audrey and Vince Breaux, Carl and Karen Breaux, and a sister-in-law, Gail Duhon Breaux. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as Buck's family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerry Patrick “Buck” Ransonet; her parents, Paul Breaux and Myrtle Comeaux Breaux; a brother, James Leewood "Lee" Breaux; a nephew, Heath Ransonet; a niece, Hailey Ransonet; and brothers-in-law, Jim Young and Hayden Ransonet.

Pallbearers will be John Parker Henderson, Lucas Henderson, Carl Breaux, Byron Breaux, Brian Breaux, and Rene Breaux.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jonathan Henderson, Ronald Breaux, Joey Mittelsteadt, Vincent Breaux, and Chad Broussard.

The family wishes to thank Annette, Vicki, Sharon, Darnell, and the staff of Landmark of Rayne for their care of Louella during her time of need.
