Elaine McCune, 86, of Zeigler, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:02 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2024, at Herrin Hospital.
Elaine was born on September 15, 1937, in Detroit, Alabama to Elvin and Medie (Henley) Harris. She was retired having been a cook and caregiver for most of her life.
Elaine had a large family and loved having them all together for family gatherings. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, gardening or around a campfire. Elaine enjoyed making floral arrangements, listening to music and dancing. She was of the Christian faith and attended Fires of Revival in Benton.
She is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Jerry) Walker, Sheila (Butch Withrow) McCune and Yvonne McCune; sons, Elvin (Wanda) McCune and Kozem Beihaghi; grandchildren, Trisha Walker, Bobbi JoAnn Armentrout, Elaina Kays, Cody McCune Amanda Kimbel, Samantha Kimbel, William Kimbel, Abijah Kimbel, Alethia Kimbel; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Gabriel Schimpf, Madelyn and Reese Kays, Aiden, Briley, Ezekiel, Gabriel, and Merida Kimbel; two great-great grandchildren, Drew and Presley Schimpf; siblings, Andy Harris, Cletus Harris, Ivanell Mann, and Marie Stevens. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clovis and Bill Harris; sisters, Ozell Smith-Taylor and Helen Polk.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Vantrease-Pyle Funeral Home in Zeigler with Pastor Dean Severin officiating. Interment will follow at the family’s private cemetery, McCune Cemetery, in Johnston City.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at Vantrease-Pyle Funeral Home in Zeigler.
