Valerie Joan Lawless

Valerie Joan Lawless, aged 67, passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2024, surrounded by the deep love of her family. Born on February 16, 1957, she was a devoted mother, loving wife, cherished friend, and a woman of remarkable strength and spirit.

Valerie will be remembered for her resilience, quick wit, and how she filled every room with warmth and laughter. She faced life’s challenges with unwavering courage and, despite her battles, never lost her kindness or her ability to find joy in life’s simplest moments. She had a rare gift for making everyone, regardless of their background, feel genuinely cared for and truly seen. Her love for her family was boundless, leaving behind a legacy of love and memories that will be cherished forever.

She is survived by her husband Stephen and her beloved children, Jonathan (Kenna), David (Daneene), and Emily (Fredrik), along with her step-children, Monique and Lynden (Janae). She also leaves behind her dearly loved grandchildren, Kaylee, Sarah, Aveah, Elliot, Addison, and Aurora, who brought her immense joy. Though her absence is deeply felt, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in each of us.

Valerie’s unexpected passing is a difficult reminder of life’s fragility, urging us to cherish every moment. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the vibrant and beautiful life she lived. Valerie was a kind and radiant soul, known for her flowing summer sundresses, her warmth, and her free spirit that touched everyone around her. Her memory will forever inspire us to live with the same grace and joy she embodied.

A viewing will be held at Tompkins Funeral Home in Gananoque on Friday, September 20, from 6–9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the same location on Saturday, September 21, at 10:30 am, followed by a burial at Gananoque Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held from 3–5 pm on Saturday, September 21 at Churchill’s Lounge (122 King St. E). Family and friends are warmly invited to gather and celebrate her life.
