Stefan Mark Stanford, 61, of Friendsville, MD, died on Friday, August 30, 2024, after a months-long battle with lung and brain cancer.
He was born in New York City, NY, September 22, 1962, and grew up in Troy, NH. He
later moved with his family to Bowie, MD, and graduated from Bowie High School in
1980. In 1985, he was employed by the USPS where he remained until the early 1990s.
In his younger years, Stefan enjoyed surfing, hosting house parties in Bowie, and
playing Ultimate Frisbee with his friends. He also had a lifelong appreciation for nature
that drove his choice to move to the mountains of Garrett County, MD, in 2014, where
he remained for the rest of his life. There, he found great joy in taking walks with his
beloved dog, Hootie.
While he worked for several businesses over the years, Stefan was particularly drawn to
researching political and social injustice. This passion led him and his partner, Susan
Duclos, to establish their own website to inform others on such matters. Stefan felt it
was his calling to research everything, question any anomaly, and most importantly, find
the answers and share them with his readers. All News Pipeline was Stefan's dream,
his design, and his outlet for his passion of writing and researching.
Survivors include his partner, Susan Duclos; his son, Kai Stanford of Bowie, MD; his
mother, Elna Luopa of Bowie, MD; three sisters, Diane (Scott) Luopa-Filimonov of
Marlborough, NH; Kathryn (Kevin) Witt of Lemont, PA; and Barbara Swartz (Mark) of
Higginsville, MO; and four nephews, Jacob Witt, Noah Witt, Erik Witt, and Nikolas
Filimonov. He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Luopa.
A memorial ceremony will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave., Friendsville, is assisting the family with cremation.
