D. Brent Jensen Obituary

Redmond, Utah - Douglas Brent Jensen, age 76, passed away August 30, 2024, in Redmond, Utah.

He was born March 23, 1948, in Salina, Utah to Douglas Rex and Norma Pickett Jensen. Brent grew up in Redmond and spent his boyhood fishing, shooting, hunting and playing with friends. He attended North Sevier High School and after graduation went to Snow College.

It was at Snow College where he met the love of his life, Mary Lee Adams. The two were married June 25, 1971, in the Manti LDS Temple. After marrying they moved to Logan to finish school. Brent studied history education to become a teacher. After graduation Brent and Mary Lee moved to the Uinta Basin to teach school. When Brent decided teaching was no longer for him, he and the family moved back to their roots where Brent worked for IFA. The family has remained in Sevier County ever since. He spent the remainder of his career working in the coal mine.

Brent and Mary Lee devoted their time to both their church and community, working tirelessly as volunteer EMTs for Sevier County. Brent devoted his free time to the LDS church where he has served in many facets, including temple worker, bishop, and various other callings. He and Mary Lee served a mission together in the Oklahoma City Mission after he retired from working in the coal mine.

In his later years Brent became heavily involved in genealogy and temple work. He spent time teaching prisoners how to perform ancestry searches.

Brent will be remembered as someone who cared for his family. He loved his children and grandchildren greatly. He spent his time caring for Mary Lee in the last several years of her life before her passing on October 20, 2019. Since her passing Brent has remained devoted to his family, temple work, and genealogy.

He is survived by his children: Martin D. Jensen of Las Vegas, Neveda, Sarah Joy Jensen (Traves Clark) of Roy, Patrick B. (Jesica) Jensen of Eagle Mountain, Brady A. (Rebecca) Jensen of San Antonio, Texas; 10 grandchildren; a brother: Hal D. (Diana) Jensen of Aurora; and sister-in-law: Sherrie Jensen of Gunnison.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lee; his parents, Doug and Norma; and brother, Bartley Rex Jensen.
