John Wayne Dickie Obituary

John Wayne Dickie

May 1, 1955 - August 30, 2024

Wayne was born in Regina on May 1, 1955 to Ronald and Beth Dickie. He is survived by his brother Barrie, sister Jo-Anne, sister Betty (Rick), nieces; Michelle (James), Danielle (Caleb), and great-nieces; Dawson, Alex and Riley.

Wayne grew up on the farm east of Duval and spent his entire life there. Wayne went to elementary school in Duval and William Derby High School in Strasbourg. Wayne always knew he wanted to be a farmer and he would have left school early to do just that if his mom had let him. Mom made it clear to Wayne that he would have lots of time for farming once he finished school. As usually happens with mothers, she was right!

Wayne enjoyed spending time with the nieces and more recently, his great-nieces when we had family get togethers either at the farm or in the city more recently. Wayne was a very quiet guy, but he was very kind and always happy to help with anything that needed to be done. He quite often would go for a “drive around the block” to see what was going on with the neighbors and would very often stop in for a visit. In his younger days Wayne liked to go snowmobiling with friends and spend time at the cabin in the hills. Uncle Wayne also enjoyed times taking his nieces on the snowmobile during family get-togethers.

Wayne passed away suddenly on August 30, 2024 on a day when he did what he loved, farming.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 10 am in the Crescent Road Cemetery, Strasbourg, SK.

Arrangements entrusted to Conley Funeral Home, Strasbourg, SK. 1-306-725-4000.
