Robert Stiff Obituary

Robert Stiff, affectionately known as “Bob”, gained his heavenly wings on August 30, 2024. He was born on March 7, 1955 to Martha Elmira Stiff and Frank Meely in Greensboro, Alabama.

Bob attended and received his formal education graduating from Greensboro Public East Campus located in Greensboro. Furthering his education, he enrolled and attended Alabama A & M University.

Bob confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age. He attended church faithfully. He never strayed away from his upbringing of being loving, caring, and compassionate person and above all, he was a giver. He was instrumental in starting a prison ministry, visiting various prisons and inmates throughout the years. His greatest impact of service was provided at the Pat Vacca Youth Detention Center where he was employed and later volunteered. Bob also gained employment as a firefighter for over three decades before retiring. He was a fireman at heart, down to his core. This was one of many cherished loves. His first love being to God and his second was his family. He was a faithful servant until the very end.

Bob met the love of his life Vera Joyce Stiff and married his queen on April 7, 1985. She was the love of his life and his best friend. To this union, two beautiful daughters were born. They were his heartbeat.

The Stiff family has lost a loving husband, an amazing father, an adoring granddaddy, a remarkable brother, and a true friend. He will truly be missed.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving, devoted and caregiving wife Vera Joyce Stiff; two daughters: Jalesia (Christopher J.) Carter; Dr. Robyn Stiff (fiancee’ Jacques Lockett); a granddaughter Raelyn Carter; a sister Leah A. Griffin; a brother Pastor Frank (JoAnn R.) Stiff; extended siblings from the Meely Family with close fellowship to Sarah Jackson, Frank Meely, Ophelia Wooten, Betsy Duncan and Eugene Glover; a father-in-love Kizell Carter; a host of relatives, families and friends.

For Bob truly embodied 2 Timothy 4:7 “ I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:“
