Robert Lee “Bob” Williams, 79, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away at his residence on August 17, 2024.

     Bob was born on May 5, 1945 in Harrisburg, to the late Wilburn Donald “Don” and Kathleen Doris (Pitts) Williams. Bob began his studies in 1963 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, earning his bachelor’s degree in economics and accounting. He continued his studies at SIU Carbondale until 1969.  In 1969, Bob began his service to his country in the United States Airforce. He was stationed in Wichita, Kansas until he was honorably discharged in 1973. In May of 1973, Bob started as entry level accountant for General American Life Insurance Company in St. Louis. Shortly thereafter Bob earned his MBA at SIU Edwardsville and passed the CPA exam and started working as a CPA for General American Life Insurance Company where he remained for the rest of his career. Bob was a lover of music. He was a staunch supporter of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Forrest Park. After Bob retired, he continued his learning as he studied plant science and landscape design. With his newly acquired skills, he enjoyed tending his garden, his landlords garden, and he also volunteered for the city of St. Louis caring for various planters throughout the old part of the city.

     Bob is survived by his sister, Doris Jean Strader and husband Sam of Lexington, Kentucky, brother, James W. Williams and wife Robyn of Cave-in-Rock; niece, Amy Long and husband Linden of Lexington, Kentucky, nephew, Bryan Strader and wife Angela of Cincinnati, Ohio, niece, Nell Fleming and husband Ron of Beloit, Wisconsin, niece, Kathleen Balma of New Orleans, Louisiana, niece, Maggie Dorsey and husband John of Carterville, Illinois, and nephew, Wesley Williams and wife, Robie of St. Louis, Missouri, and several great nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents, Don and Kathleen Williams, Bob is preceded in death by a niece, Lisa Johnson.

     Private services for Robert Lee “Bob” Williams will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and will be received at the funeral home or donations may be mailed to Attn: Tribute Gifts, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, 718 North Grand Boulevard, St. Louis, Missouri 63103-8941.
