John Frederick Connell Obituary

John Frederick Connell passed away on August 30, 2024, at the age of 80 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

John was a beacon of kindness, generosity, and humor, deeply loved by all who knew him. He was a devoted member of the Holy Name Catholic community. John was passionate about giving back through faith-filled service including the proud achievement of being the first lay Board President at Marian High School and serving on numerous volunteer charitable boards.

John's professional life was marked by a distinguished career as a Partner at Price Waterhouse followed by his role as CFO at Arden Companies until his retirement in 2012.

A graduate of U of D Jesuit High School and the University of Detroit, John was not only a brilliant mind but also a passionate golfer, often found on the greens at Oakland Hills in his leisure time.

His greatest accomplishment, however, (to anyone who would listen) was being married to the love of his life, Pat for over 54 years.

John leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia (Pat) Connell; children, Julie Principe and Meghan (Rob) Lyon; siblings, Tom (Mary) Connell, Mary Jo Dorsey, Ann Adams, Eileen (John) Heasley, and Gerry (Peggy) Connell; and his cherished grandchildren, Reilly, Connell, Quinn, Izzy, and Michael.

The services to honor and celebrate his life are entrusted to A.J. Desmond & Sons. John's presence will be profoundly missed, yet his legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 20, 2024 from 4-8PM w/ Scripture service 7PM at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd. (between Maple & Big Beaver).

Funeral Mass Saturday, September 21, 2024 10AM at Holy Name Catholic Church, 630 Harmon @ Woodland, Birmingham. Visitation begins at 9:30.

Memorial donations may be made to Marian High School, Bloomfield Hills, or the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament, Farmington Hills.
