Winifred (Winnie) Elizabeth Mullins Branham, 90, passed away on August 31, 2024 at her daughter’s home in Estill Springs, TN, surrounded by her family. She was born March 12, 1934 in Burdine, KY, daughter of the late Franklin G. & Mollie Buchanan Mullins. Winnie lived in Burdine & McRoberts, KY before the family moved to Pound, VA, where she graduated from Christopher Gist High School in 1951. Following high school, she worked at the local grocery store and the Peoples Bank of Pound. On September 12, 1953, she married Reginald Branham, who was the love of her life. They moved to Ohio and settled in Grafton in 1954, where they lived for 50 years.


She was a charter member of North Eaton Baptist Church (Grafton), where she attended until moving to Culleoka, TN in 2004 to be closer to family. While at North Eaton, she served as Assistant Treasurer/bookkeeper, Children’s Sunday School teacher, & Vacation Bible School teacher. She served as the church secretary on a volunteer basis for 40 years, preparing & printing the Sunday bulletin at home each week. She was a former member of Mooresville Baptist Church (Lewisburg, TN), and a long-time member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, Columbia, TN where she served on the kitchen committee and as a church representative on the Maury Baptist Executive Board. She loved the ladies of the Grace Sunday School class.


Winnie was a talented seamstress, making clothes for her daughters, herself, and for special friends, as well as costumes for many church programs. She enjoyed collecting thimbles and decorative ceramic houses. She was an example of the Proverbs 31 wife, taking pride in providing and caring for her husband and family; she had a servant’s heart.


Winnie was preceded in death by her husband Reginald; parents, and three brothers, Roger, Ronald and Thurman Mullins. She is survived by one brother, Burns “Inky” (Leyetta) Mullins; her children, Paula (John) Zimmer, Greg (Annette) Branham, & Julie (Bob) Davis; grandchildren Julie (Travis) Bennett, Drew (Jill) Zimmer, Jeremy (Terry) Zimmer, Jason (Jenn) Branham, Cody (Lyndsey) Branham, Casey (Tiffany) Branham, Erin (Dusty) Sheppard, Kaylyn (Josh) McClarren, Hannah (Nathan) Pierson; 18 great-grandchildren Tyler & Preston Bennett; Lilah Zimmer; Addie, Ellie, & Riggs Zimmer; Sadie & Cooper Branham; Caiden, Maddy, & Conor Branham, Hunter & Jake Sheppard, Sawyer & Savannah McClarren, Henry, Owen, & Reggie Pierson.


A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, 2712 Trotwood Ave, Columbia, TN on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 12 Noon. The family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at 11 am. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, Winchester, TN is assisting the family with arrangements.
