He was pre-deceased by his father, George P. Arsenault Sr., his sister Susan Leson, and his brother Peter Arsenault. He also leaves behind his beloved four-legged best friend, Cocoa.
George is a 1972 graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy and a Merchant Marine Officer. George began his career on a tug boat in New York City and subsequently served for many years with Ocean Ships of Texas as a Chief Engineer on several ships including the Samuel Cobb and Paul Buck as well as the USNS Lawrence H. Gianella. During his years at sea, George’s work took him to almost every port in the world from McMurdo, Antarctica to Valdez, Alaska, and everywhere in between. At the end of his career, he had the privilege of returning to Baltimore MD as a port engineer to refurbish 2 of the ships that were such a big part of his life.
Among other honors, George was recognized by all four branches of the military for his service in support of Joint Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraq Freedom.
George is a member of the Alden Club, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and the American Legion and was an American Legion Rider as well. He was as happy on his motorcycle riding with friends as he was on the water. George loved a good adventure and could be found on the slopes, ice sailing, playing Santa, and telling a good yarn. He was a jack of all trades, building his home in Plymouth with his dad, son Brock, and close friends, working on his many motorcycles and his 1946 vintage Willys Jeep. George’s bond with his Mass Maritime classmates endured and he loved nothing more than to spend time with ‘The Five Hold Boys’ known as a vital member of the Mass Maritime soccer team.
To his family and friends, he is known as Georgie, Pauly, PJ, Crazy George, Santa Claus, and as of late, George Clooney.
George’s philosophy was ‘Ride to Live’ and as we all know, he certainly did!
