Shirley I. (Hough) Woodard, 81, passed away August 30, 2024 at Vantage of Hampden surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rutland, Vermont on April 27, 1943 to the late Edward and Irene (Moore) Hough. Shirley spent her formative years growing up in Rutland and met her husband in New York. Together they shared a remarkable 58 years of marriage. In 1970, they embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Wilbraham, where they laid down roots to raise their family. Shirley’s life was a testament to her devotion to her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always putting her loved ones first. She was accomplished at knitting and crocheting, crafting beautiful afghans and other cherished items for those she held dear. A passionate admirer of Elvis Presley, Shirley delighted in her extensive collection of memorabilia and found immense joy in his music, which was a constant source of happiness throughout her life.
She leaves her children, James Woodard, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Springfield, William Woodard of Rutland, VT, Shirley Robertson of Springfield, and Deborah Allard and her husband Robert of Monson; a sister, Edna Martell of Pittsford, VT and a brother, Edward Hough and his wife Debbie of Rutland, VT; 5 grandchildren, Becky, Michael, Dillon, Gabe, and Crystal; 6 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends. She will also be missed by her beloved furry companion, her dog Buddy. She was predeceased by her husband James Woodard, Sr., her son, Kevin Woodard, and a son-in-law Bob Robertson.
