Evans "E.C." Celestine Reviere Obituary

LAFAYETTE ~ Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 5, 2024, at a 10:30 am Liturgy of the Word in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Evans "E.C." Celestine Reviere, age 90, who passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, at Ochsner University Hospital & Clinics in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Brian Taylor, pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mr. Evans was born in Pitreville and grew up in Eunice. He was also long-time resident of Lafayette. A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner of St. Genevieve Catholic Church and a dedicated usher for many years.

Mr. Evans dedicated his life to his family, but he especially took great pride in caring for the love of his life, Patricia Reviere. A great pastime for him was watching horse racing; he loved the thrill of the sport. A diligent man, Mr. Evans wore many hats when it came to his work. His occupations ranged from delivering bread, working as an oilfield salesman, owning and operating a couple of neighborhood corner stores, and just up until a couple of weeks ago, dealing in cardboard and pallets with local businesses, such as Pull-A-Part, Goodwill, ASH Industries, Single Source, and others. Mr. Evans never met a stranger; he went out of his way to greet everyone. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and his legacy will live on forever in the memories he left behind.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-five years, Patricia Ann Hobbs Reviere; his sons, Darrell Ray Baker, Mark Allen Baker, Michael Wayne Baker and his wife, Peggy; Damon Kelly Baker-Reviere and his wife, Christine; and Brooks Evans Reviere; his daughters, Donna Lynn Bergeron and her husband, Keith; and Celeste Hope Reviere Greig and her husband, Errol, Jr.; his grandchildren, Krysten, Joshua, Hillary, Casey, Trent, Jacob, Caleb, Garrett, Landri, Hudson, Brennan, Owen, Nathan, Philip, and Edmond; his great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; his brother, Huey Allen Reviere; and sister, Pauline Miller; his brother-in-law, Roderick Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Reviere and the former, Adia Darbonne; his brothers, Ernest Joseph Reviere and John Patrick Reviere; his sisters, Edith Guidry, Violet Chapman, Thelma Fontenot, Elaine Olivier, and Catherine Martin; his brothers-in-law, Bill Guidry, Joseph Chapman, and Roger Miller.

A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm, Wednesday in the funeral home led by John Kenneth Morgan.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 pm Wednesday until 10:00 pm and will continue from 8:00 am Thursday until service time on Thursday at 10:30am.

Pallbearers will be Damon Baker, Garrett Baker, Owen Greig, Nathan Greig, Philip Greig, and Ron Guidry. Honorary pallbearers will be Huey Reviere, Joshua Baker, Brennan Bergeron, Trent Baker, Jacob Baker, Caleb Baker, Hudson Reviere, and Edmond Greig.
