Jon "Kent" James Beardslee Obituary

Jon James Beardslee, affectionately known as "Kent," passed away on August 30, 2024, at the age of 56 in Belton. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through his daughter, Kristina Legier; his siblings, Dee Dee Miller and Noey Gonzalez; his beloved grandchildren, Blair Legier and Cordillia Legier; and his mother, Diane Beardslee Madero. He is also survived by his nephews, Jared Mullis, Mike Nance, and Cj Gonzalez.

Kent was a man who found solace in nature. He cherished the river, where he spent countless hours kayaking, fishing, swimming, and enjoying the peace that only the water could bring. His love for the outdoors reflected his free spirit and his desire to live life on his own terms.

He was known for his snarky comments and his long, often entertaining, stories that captivated those around him. King Cobra was his drink of choice, and his mantra was both bold and telling: "To know me is to love me, to love me is to hate me, to hate me is to know me."

Kent was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Raymond Beardslee, and his nephew, Thomas Michael Malphrus, both of whom he missed deeply.

A celebration of his life will be held on September 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Broad River, in the parking lot of the zoo, where his family and friends will gather to remember his unique spirit and the joy he brought to their lives.

In memory of Kent, may we all embrace life a little more fully, tell a few more stories, and enjoy the river in his honor.
