On August 30, 2024, Kelly Dean Miller of Newalla, Oklahoma, passed away from this life at the age of 74. Born in Hobbs, New Mexico, on December 15, 1949, Dean was the son of John W. Miller and Lois LaVona (Slaughter) Miller.
He attended Midwest City High School, graduating with the Class of 1968. After graduation, he heard his country’s call and joined the United States Army, proudly and honorably serving this great nation. He went on to serve the government for over three more decades, thriving in his career at the Veterans’ hospital and retiring after 35 dedicated years. After retiring, Dean enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved football and especially enjoyed following the Sooners and Dallas Cowboys.
Dean was a man of few words whose greatest sources of strength and inspiration were God, his family, and his country. He worked hard his entire life and was a proud lifetime member of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars). No matter the situation, Dean always had the strength to stand up for what he believed in. He loved being outdoors and you could often find him outside, feeding the wildlife and hanging out with his dogs. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed nothing more than spending quality time with the people he loved. Dean was lucky to have been married to the love of his life, and for 51 years, he and Mary did everything together. They took numerous road trips over the years, making so many beautiful memories along the way. Dean also loved taking Mary out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse for special occasions.
As we reflect upon a life well-lived, let us remember Dean for his unwavering strength, his deep faith, and his dedication to his family. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
