Olga Jean Vidmar Obituary

Olga Jean (Tominac) Vidmar, 86, of McCandless Township, formerly of Dorseyville, Indiana Township, passed away, Friday August 30, 2024, with her devoted daughter by her side. She was born October 2, 1937, in Rural Ridge, and was the youngest child of Matt and Anna (Ivkovic) Tominac.  Olga was a graduate of West Deer High School. She was joined in holy matrimony with Harry Lewis Vidmar on August 2, 1958, at Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church in Russellton.  They were happily married for over 52 years until his death in 2011. Olga was devoted to her family.  She would proudly say being a mom and grama were her favorite roles in life. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends while hosting various events including card clubs, bridal and baby showers, as well as numerous graduation and family get-togethers.  Her holiday parties were legendary as she made sure that the meals and desserts were all homemade and her home was decorated to perfection.  She loved to travel and meticulously planned every detail of family trips.  Her favorite was a month-long, cross-country trip from PA to CA, and several stops in between, with Harry, the kids, and a travel trailer.  When her children were in college, she, and Harry, would travel hundreds of miles to support each of them in their activities including ROTC, college football, and marching band, attending many events each season.  After Harry retired, they enjoyed annual month-long stays in Florida and routine visits to see their grandchildren in other states.  She enjoyed musical entertainment and held season tickets to the Civic Light Opera at the Benedum Center for many years.  Additionally, she would coordinate the musical entertainment for her Young and Restless group at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, St. Victor Church, where she was a former member.

She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Bobnar of Monroeville; her sons, John (Linda) Vidmar of Wake Forest, NC, and Matthew (Stephanie) Vidmar of Alpharetta, GA.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Bradford, Cameron and Alex Bobnar, Tyler, Emily, and Dylan Vidmar, and Parker and Sydney Vidmar; and one great-granddaughter, Mylah Bobnar. She is also survived by her sisters-in-laws Anna Mae (the late Frank) Tominac and Mara (the late Tom) Tominac; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, her infant daughter, Annette, her parents, Matt and Anna, her sisters, Rose Mary Procer and Mildred and (the late Ray) Brozek, and her brothers, Frank and Tom Tominac, her in-laws Paul and Anna (Mrak) Vidmar, Joe and Stella (Vidmar) Hughes, Zeke and Julie (Vidmar) Vecenie, Frank and Ginny (Vidmar) Radish, Tom and Irma (Vidmar) Downing, and Paul Vidmar.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Sunrise of McCandless, especially the fourth-floor caregivers, and Bridges Hospice, with special appreciation to Lisa, Jess, Elizabeth, and Sam for their loving care.

Friends and family will be received Friday, September 6th, from 5pm to 8pm at the SIWICKI-YANNICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Twp., where a blessing service will be held on Saturday, September 7th, at 10:00 am, with the Father Daniel Straughn of St. Aidan’s Parish, officiating.  Olga will be laid to rest next to her husband Harry in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Township.
