Burton L. Carley Jr., 77, Watertown and formerly of Adams Center, died August 30, 2024 at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown. A memorial service will be at 11:30 am on Saturday September 7, at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams, NY, with Rev. Kevin R. Kitto, pastor of the Lowville and Carthage United Methodist Churches officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Adams State Road Cemetery, Adams Center, NY.


There will be a calling hour prior to the service beginning at 10:30am.


Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home Inc, Adams, NY.


Born February 17, 1947 in Adams Center, son of Burton L. and Catherine (Norman) Carley Sr, he attended Adams High School. He entered the US Army in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1970.


He married Gail K. Landers on February 7, 1975 at the Asbury Methodist Church in Watertown. The couple lived in Watertown before moving to the Washington Park Road in Adams, then later back to the Watertown area.


Burton worked for the City of Watertown Dept of Public Works. He later worked at the Town of Watertown Waste Transfer Site until retiring.


He is survived by his daughter Tammy (Chris) Nichols; granddaughter Carlee (Devin) Horning; grandson Logan Nichols; two sisters Connie (Jim) Brownell, Marion Carley; sister in law Bonnie Carley; and several nieces and nephews.


Besides both of his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Gail (2003), four brothers: Johnny, Norman, Charles and George Carley; and sister Cynthia Carey.


He was a member of the VFW Post 586, Adams, NY.


He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, his family and especially his grandchildren.
