Kathy Eileen Sanders, was born to the union of Kenton Eugene Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Majors Mosley Owen on April 2, 1959, in Indianapolis, IN. Throughout her life, Kathy exemplified the qualities of a thoughtful and loving soul, touching countless lives with her warmth and grace. She was blessed with a beautiful marriage to Darrell Sanders on October 22, 1983, a union that became the foundation of a close-knit and loving family.

Kathy's professional journey was as inspiring as her personal life. She retired in 2024 after a distinguished career in the South Bend Schools. Kathy began her career as an admissions counselor at DePauw University and later contributed significantly as an Academic Advisor/Financial Aid at Indiana University South Bend. Her true calling, however, was in the realm of public education. Having served as a teacher at Navarre Middle School and LaSalle Academy, Kathy later ascended the ranks to become an Assistant Principal at Jackson for four years. Her crowning achievement was her tenure as Principal at Hamilton Traditional and Marshall Traditional School, where she left an indelible mark on generations of students.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Darrell Sanders of South Bend, In; her sons Joshua Evan Sanders of Bloomington, IN., Daniel (Dominique) Ryan Delgado Sanders and Andrew Nathan Sanders both of Mishawaka, IN; her grandchildren Shawn Alexander, Haylee Grace, Hannah Michelle, and Isabella Elizabeth Delgado Sanders; her siblings Kim (Troy) Bonner of Indianapolis, IN, Kenton Eugene Owen, Jr., Kevin Elliott Owen, and Keith Eric Owen of Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenton Eugene Owen Sr., her mother, Mary Elizabeth Majors Mosley Owen, and her sister, Karen Elizabeth Owen Young.

The Homegoing Celebration for Kathy will take place on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 1:00 pm EDT, at the Pentecostal Cathedral COGIC located at 1025 West Western Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, 46601.
