Donald Eugene Coleman Jr., 77, of Lemont Furnace passed away on Friday August 30, 2024, in Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 1, 1947, in Connellsville, the son of the late Donald E. Sr. and Kathryn (Logston) Coleman.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren Shawn Tyler Coleman and Kaylee Lynn Shaffer.
Donald is survived by his loving wife Brenda J. (Moyer) Coleman; children Alan (Jamie) Coleman of Lemont Furnace, Amy Lynn Shaffer (James) of Lemont Furnace, and Aaron Coleman (Sharon Large) of Hopwood; grandchildren Briana Kumor (Dom), Derek Shaffer, Brendan Shaffer (Hannah) Taylor Large (Josh), Shannon Large, Ellarie Coleman (Daniel), and Connor Coleman (Savanah); many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews who he loved dearly.
He was a loving and outstanding husband, father, and grandfather. He was loved greatly by all of his friends, relatives, and everyone who met him. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt with his sons, grandsons, and friends.
Donald was a proud and patriotic solider. He served in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran from 1967-1968 where he was a Door Gunner Chief on a helicopter.
He was a member of Cove Run Church, AMVETS post 103, VVI of Fayette County, Barton Hollow Hunting Club, and Lemont Sportsman’s Club.
His absence will be felt by many people forever and his memory and acts of kindness will be remembered always.
Visitation will be held in the CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood on Tuesday September 3 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday September 4 from 10am until the hour of the funeral service at 11am with Pastor Travis Edgar officiating. Interment will follow in Cove Run Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Donald's honor to Hopwood Volunteer Fire Department (1242 National Pike, Hopwood, PA 15445).
