Kenneth Jay Tawney Obituary

Kenneth Jay Tawney, 62, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina on Friday August 30, 2024. He was born on November 8, 1961 to Kenneth Tawney and the late Jean Tawney.

Along with his mother, Jay is reunited in passing with his step sister, Bonnie Ruth; step mother, Pauline Tawney and beloved fur-baby and k9 companion, Marlowe.

Jay was a hardworking man with a heart of gold and a zest for life. He was a skilled landscape artist with an eye for perfection. In his younger years, Jay relished time spent outdoors fishing, hunting and taking in the fresh air. Later in life, Jay enjoyed making memories with family and friends, cheering on his favorite college football team, the Mountaineers…and pretending to enjoy watching NASCAR with his wife. Above all else, Jay loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed.

Along with his father, Kenneth Tawney of Parkersburg, West Virginia; left to cherish Jay’s memory are his adoring wife of over 19 wonderful years, Mrs. Laurie A. Tawney of Murrells Inlet; son, Logan Tawney and wife, Megan of WV; granddaughter, Kelsey; sisters, Guyla Black and husband, Paul & Drema Lynn Dennowitz and husband, Jim; step- sisters, Sandy, Tammy & Sue; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Jay’s life will be held privately.
