Lola S. Weber, of Paramus, NJ, passed away on August 30, 2024.
Lola was a vibrant and inspirational leader, a source of strength and love for her family and the communities in which she lived. Throughout her life she embraced new
experiences and treasured the friendships she made in her travels and at home.
She was born in the Bronx on November 16, 1924 to Dr. Maurice and Beatrice Siegel. She graduated from Hunter College in 1946 and was a member of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority, through which she made dear and lifelong friends. Lola received her Masters in Special Education from William Paterson University.
She married Henry Weber in 1946, and they were inseparable throughout their lives. They initially lived in the Bronx, where Lola was a teacher in the NYC school system,
until they moved to Paramus, where they raised three daughters. They were leaders in their community and founding members of the Jewish Community Center of Paramus, where Lola was chair of the Education Committee. Lola was a member of the Brandeis book club, a lifetime member of Hadassah, and active in the PTA.
Lola worked for the Bergen County School for Special Services for 30 years as a teacher of special education.
When Brightview Senior Living in Paramus opened, Lola and Henry were among the first residents, and they formed and served on the Residents Association. Lola also was active in the new member welcoming and orientation program and participated in all aspects of community life.
Her wide range of interests, shared with Henry, included bridge, tennis, gardening, skiing, biking, sailing and golf. They traveled nationally and internationally, being among the first to visit China when it opened its doors. They were frequent visitors to NYC’s theaters, concerts, lectures, and museums. A second home in Millerton, NY provided a new community to explore and support.
Lola was predeceased by her parents and sister, Gloria Hulnick, and is survived by her husband, Henry, and their three daughters and their husbands: Marcia Weber and
James Flaws of Corning, NY; Carol Weber and Peter Arezzini of Lake Oswego, OR; and Amy Weber and Sheldon Goldfarb of Chappaqua, NY. She also is survived by
grandchildren Jeremy and Hailley Arezzini; Elyse Arezzini and Jesse Johnson; Alex and Adi Arezzini; Daniel and Allyson Goldfarb; Ali Goldfarb; and Cara Goldfarb; and by great grandchildren Pennelope, Zooey, Wynn, Ella, Sylvie, Kaia, Asher, and Russell.
Funeral services will be held on September 3, 2024 at 11 AM at the Jewish Community Center of Paramus, E. 304 Midland Ave., Paramus, NJ 07652.
Memorials in her name may be made to the Jewish Community Center of Paramus, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
