COLD BROOK – Michele D. Rommel, 68, of Main Street, passed away on August 30, 2024 at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing in Rome, after a courageous battle with cancer with her family by her side.

Mrs. Rommel was born on August 22, 1956, daughter of the late Eleanor Currie. She received her education from West Canada Valley Central School. On May 11, 1973, Michele was united in marriage with Edwin A. Rommel, Jr. She was a lifelong homemaker and was last employed as a cafeteria aide at West Canada Valley Central School. Michele enjoyed family get togethers, camping, traveling, gardening, puzzles and spending holidays at home with her family.

Survivors besides her husband of 51 years, Ed, include two sons, her pride and joy, Billy Rommel (Lisa Link) of Cold Brook and Eric (Krissy) Rommel of Poland; the apples of her eye, her four grandchildren, Wesley (Erica) Rommel and Rachel Rommel all of Cold Brook, and Shelby and Landon Rommel of Poland; a great-granddaughter, Alcenia Rommel; ten siblings, Marty (Sandy) Santmyer, Sr., Eddie (Faye) Pope, Cindy Miller, Laurie Mullen, Mary Terzi, Timmy Pope, Billy (Brenda) Pope, Jeff (Patty) Pope, Heidi (Rusty) Heston, and Louellyn White; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Karen and Larry Lynch, Gail and Jr. Cowan, Timmy Rommel, Heidi and Todd Fenton, and John Brucker; and several nieces and nephews. Michele was predeceased by her mother, Eleanor Currie; her in-laws, Edwin and Betty Rommel; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Brucker.

A private graveside service will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no public calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport.
