Sandra Derby

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Sandra’s passing on Friday, August 30th, 2024 at Innisfree House. Sandra passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Beloved partner to Gerry Kelly, with whom she shared many wonderful years. Loving mother to Paula Carpenter (William) and Brad Derby (Sarah), sister-in-law to Bernice, Terry (J.D.), Ken, and doting grandma to Bronwyn, Ellie, and Connor. She is predeceased by and together once again with her high school sweetheart and late husband Bruce, mother Jean, father Fred, her brother Tony, and in-laws Edith and Doug. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Sandra was beloved by many friends and community members in Ayr after working for over 40 years at the CIBC Ayr branch. Sandra will be remembered for her warm spirit and her love of her family and friends. Even while facing numerous health challenges, she maintained her selfless nature and never let her struggles diminish her kindness. Her deep love and ability to bring joy to those around her was truly remarkable. A funeral service will take place at Knox United Church, 92 Northumberland St., Ayr, on Thursday, September 5th, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall. Our deepest gratitude extends to Sandra’s close friends and everyone who offered support during her lengthy courageous battle with cancer. We would also like to express our gratitude to the extraordinary team of homecare providers, and later, the team at Innisfree House. Your unwavering compassion and dedication in supporting Sandra, as well as our family, have been a profound source of comfort during this challenging time.
