Donald Lee “Don” Willett, 85 of Hannibal, MO passed away at 12:21 PM Friday, August 30, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Brother Robert Axton will officiate. Burial with full military honors by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Don was born on November 5, 1938 in Hannibal, MO to Reverend Russell Lowell Willett and Virginia L. Doke Willett.
He was previously married to Carolyn Joyce Bastian. She survives.
Also surviving are two children: Donald Vincent Willett (Teresa) of Ash Grove, MO and Carolyn Sue Willett of Republic, MO; one sister, Marynell Munger of Hannibal, MO; eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Elbert Lowell Willett.
Don served his country proudly in the United States Army.
He retired from Hannibal Carbide Tool, where he was a machinist for many years.
Away from work, Don loved to follow the St. Louis Cardinals and watch Kansas City Chiefs football. Watching boxing on TV, occasional visits to the casino to play the slots and times shared with family and friends were among Don’s favorites. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Munger, Rocky Howes, Cory Munger, Brian Oaks, Ron Andresen and Kevin Riebeling.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jon Franklin and Ronnie Ward.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice in Don’s honor.
